Job summary

The Marketing Operations Manager supports the entire European Growth Marketing Team by delivering all operational marketing activities for our B2B clients together with our Marketing Operations (Ops) team in South Africa. You take care of a wide range of marketing activities, like customer and competitor research, database management, marketing automation support, measurement and reporting, and overall campaign support. You support the delivery of the work by the South African Operations team from our office in Cape Town.

From coordinating the delivery of marketing operations tasks by the Ops team, to hands-on delivery yourself; this job is a sweet cocktail of management and execution. You’re responsible for the timely submission and quality of the work of our Marketing Operations team consisting of 5 to 10 entry-level marketing support and intermediate level marketing specialists, of which the majority is based in Cape Town. You’re coordinating all the marketing operational tasks, while doing a portion of marketing operations yourself. You enable your colleagues in the Growth Team to market effectively and make smarter decisions.

Being highly organized, you’re able to plan and prioritize activities within a broad scope of work with tight deadlines. You have good communication skills to explain the job to be done clearly in a simplified manner to our Ops team, to brief what’s needed to guide them to deliver. You’ll need to have patience but also dare to approach and speak up when necessary. You enjoy helping others, working with different cultures, and managing the team dynamics to support and inspire the Ops team.

Responsibilities

  • Project Management of all Marketing Ops activities as part of the Growth Marketing Team
  • Participate in the Growth Marketing Team for multiple clients, to brief the Ops team on (micro)-tasks and projects and deliver the Ops work to the Growth Team
  • Coordinate and brief Marketing Ops projects to the Marketing Operations team with weekly standups on Monday, and regular support throughout the week in the office
  • Run Customer Research, build Ideal Customer Profiles (ICP) and Buyer Personas
  • Run Competitive Audits and Reports (e.g. traffic, content, SEO, and lead generation)
  • Build high quality compliant databases to easily segment, analyze and target customers, like account and contact list building, enrichment and cleaning
  • Support the implementation of HubSpot (Marketing Hub)  
  • Develop and implementing Account and Lead scoring, manage the lead lifecycle
  • Support the development, setup and monitoring of campaigns in close collaboration with the Campaign Manager and Growth Marketer
  • Support Email marketing, email automation, segmentation and lead nurturing
  • Implement SEO strategies, including technical SEO optimization, keyword and backlink analysis, on-page SEO optimization and backlink acquisition
  • Run performance reports and providing regular campaign insights, analytics and management information to update the growth team and clients 
  • Check quality of tasks, to deliver to the team and client according to our quality standards
  • Planning and monitoring Marketing Ops work in our work management system (ClickUp)
  • Cape Town Office management support

Required skills & experience

  • Marketing professional with 2+ years of experience in marketing
  • Fast learner with the ability to break down complex information into simple concepts
  • Able to prioritize with tight deadlines in a fast paced environment – it’s more likely we need to slow you down instead of encouraging you to go faster
  • Highly organized and good time management skills
  • Not afraid to roll up your sleeves and getting things done 
  • Great flexibility and adaptability, can iterate based on learnings or unexpected events
  • Good communication skills, can explain things clearly, listen & respond to what is needed 
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • At least 2 year experience in Marketing Automation (HubSpot is a pre)
  • Familiar with (or willing to learn) tools like LinkedIn Sales Navigator, SEMRush, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Data Studio, WordPress and Elementor
  • Understanding of other cultures, to bridge the gap between Africa and Western cultures
  • Comfortable with collaboration and productivity tools (Slack, ClickUp, Google Drive, etc.)
  • Enjoy developing and maintaining expertise on standard operating procedures 
  • Multitasker who can work independently, a self starter who takes full ownership
  • Fluent in English, written and verbal, including a strong grasp of English grammar
